Introducing Àpini Bespoke

I created this bespoke ring starting from Venice, from Petra and her partner’s personal connection to the city, and from an imaginary shaped by water, color, details and frames.

The aquamarine became the center of the project, while the green agate border built a more intense, graphic presence around it, giving the ring both character and a strong sense of identity.

Working on this piece, together with other bespoke projects that are already beginning to take shape, made me realize it was time to give a clearer name and space to a part of Àpini that had developed naturally over time, through requests, conversations and ideas created together.

This is how Àpini Bespoke was born: a service dedicated to creating custom jewelry, starting from a stone you already own, a photograph, an image, a piece of jewelry you would like to reinterpret, an existing Àpini design to revisit, or simply an idea that still needs to be defined.

The first step is a meeting, online or in person, to get to know each other and talk through the project. We gather references, wishes and practical needs, but most importantly, we try to understand where the idea could go. For me, it is essential to find a shared language and to make sure the personal story behind the project can be translated in a way that still feels true to Àpini. Bespoke does not simply mean carrying out a request, but building something together.

From this first conversation, the project is developed into a clear proposal, defining the design, stones, materials and overall character of the piece. Once the proposal is approved, production begins.

Timing depends on the complexity of the piece, the availability of materials and the techniques involved, but a bespoke jewel can generally take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. This includes research, development and production, allowing the project to take shape with the right amount of care, without rushing the stages that need time and consideration.

For the Venezia Ring, the city remained the thread running through the entire project without ever becoming a literal reference. The aquamarine, luminous and immediately connected to water, was framed by green agate, sharper and more graphic, loosely inspired by the profiles and decorative details of the city. The 18ct yellow gold setting gives the ring structure and presence, while the contrast between the two stones makes it bold, colorful and unmistakable.

The result is a bold and distinctive piece, precious in both materials and craftsmanship, but far from the idea of a traditional or overly formal ring. It was designed to have character and to hold a personal story without having to spell it out.

What interests me most in a bespoke project is the moment when an open idea stops being just a reference and begins to become something real, with its own weight, proportions and personality.
